Getting Saved

What does it mean to be saved?
"Saved" is a word heard a lot around Christians.  Ever wonder what that means? John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."  Getting saved is about acknowledging Jesus as Savior, asking Him into your heart, and following His will for your life.  Verses 17 and 18 go on to say: "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.  He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

The Bible tells us the only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ.  Perhaps you are familiar with the phrase "born again."  It comes from John 3:3: "Jesus answered and said unto him, 'Most assuredly I say to you unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.'"  Jesus is telling a man named Nicodemus, a teacher of the Jews, the only way to Heaven is by accepting who Jesus is and who sent Him to the world.  In John 5:24, Jesus also says, "Most assuredly I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life."

Ready for a leap of faith?
Perhaps you have been straddling the fence; maybe you have not been quite sure about this whole "getting saved" thing.  Or maybe you were raised in the church but never felt God's presence.  Are you ready to meet your Savior? If so, you can say the following prayer:

Dear Jesus, I confess I am a sinner in need of Your saving grace.  I believe you are the Son of God and that You died on the cross for my sins.  Please forgive me for my sins, come into my heart, and save my soul.  Amen.
